What Switch Clip is

Switch Clip is a web application that helps creators make short vertical videos (Shorts) from YouTube videos that their owners have published under the Creative Commons BY reuse license. You pick a reuse-allowed video, choose a style, and the app selects the most engaging moments, adds captions, hook titles and the required creator attribution, and renders up to 6 Shorts you can download. You can also upload your own footage to caption it. Previews are free; you pay only per exported clip. No subscription.

How Switch Clip uses Google and YouTube data

Switch Clip uses YouTube API Services. Signing in with Google only gives us your name, email address and profile picture to create your account.

If you choose to connect your YouTube channel, we request the youtube.upload permission only at that moment, and use it solely to upload the clip you exported to your own channel with the title, description and CC BY attribution you see on screen. We do not read your videos, subscribers, comments or analytics.
Data received from Google APIs is never sold, shared with third parties, used for advertising, or used to train AI models. Our use complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
